For the police, dial 110 Commonly known as "hyakutoban", you can dial the number "110" to reach police with jurisdiction of your area for assistance with emergencies and accidents. Tell them what happened and where as calmly and accurately as possible. It is also possible to call 110 directly from public telephones.
Support for calls from foreigners varies depending on the police department, but if there is an officer capable of speaking foreign languages present, one will respond.

If you fall ill

For the fire department, dial 119 Commonly known as "hyakujukyuban", you can dial the number "119" to reach the fire command center for assistance with fires or other emergencies. Tell them what happened and where as calmly and accurately as possible. It is also possible to call 119 directly from public telephones.
